Book I designed for Money
In "MONETA," I delve into a unique and profound theme: the essence of money and its role in the evolution of society, and how it has transcended its material value to become a system of belief. By intertwining the concept of money with the teachings of the Pentateuch from the Old Testament, this book reveals that money is more than just a medium of exchange, a store of value, or a unit of account. It has become a complex and significant symbol in our society, with an influence comparable to that of religious faith.
"MONETA" is not just a book about economics; it is an expedition into thought, a quest for the deeper values and symbolic meanings behind money. Through meticulous research and an innovative perspective, I invites readers to explore the following questions: What is money? What does it represent in our lives? And how has it become a symbol of power, a manifestation of belief?
Livestock, gold, sweets, jewelry, luxury goods, salt, sex, chips ...... have been or are still considered, across cultures and historical periods, as stores of value and mediums of exchange, i.e. as a form of money. The key to their recognition as "money" is that they are widely accepted for the exchange of goods and services.
The forms and concepts of money have evolved with the development of human societies, and their diversity reflects the characteristics of different cultures and economic systems. Prior to the mainstreaming of paper and electronic money, human beings used a variety of objects as mediums of exchange that were widely accepted and had value in the societies of the time.
Money, as part of the class game, reflects the inequality and distribution of power in the socio-economic structure. The Forbes 2023 list of the richest people demonstrates the global concentration of wealth, with these top wealth holders controlling vast resources that are truly out of reach for most ordinary people.
The diversity and inequality of life is reflected in the experiences of different people, from gambling at the gaming table to cautious labor in the mines, from profligate spending of resources to careful budgeting for survival, these contrasts depict a complex and multi-faceted world. It is a world where people's life choices and opportunities are greatly influenced by their socio-economic status.
It is true that the culture of consumerism has largely shaped purchasing behavior in modern societies, not the least of which is the use of marketing strategies by capitalists to stimulate consumers' desire to buy. The complex economic and social dynamics behind this phenomenon are reflected in the relationship between producers and consumers, the impact of marketing strategies, and the psychological and behavioral patterns of consumers themselves.
In this fast-paced and highly consumerist era, calling on readers to let go of their anxieties and focus on real-world issues and inner peace is a path that is both challenging and critically necessary.
