Berlin Map

Study-away project, based on my own experience
The Berlin Map project offers a subjective and human perspective on the city of Berlin, departing from traditional objective maps. It aims to provide a simplified and curated selection of landmarks, streets, and other elements that hold personal significance to the creator, while also being informative and appealing to tourists.
Through a user-centric approach, the map will highlight lesser-known locations and incorporate visual elements that evoke a sense of human connection and emotion, making it a unique and memorable piece of art that challenges the traditional notion of maps.
The Berlin Map project embodies “The Presence of Absence” concept by intentionally departing from traditional maps overloaded with information, and instead presenting a curated perspective.
I tried to make a font out of the elements used in the map, which is what I had in mind for how Berlin looks and feels to me.
This project carries my memories and feelings about Berlin, and as I wrote above, is a completely subjective project.
“One Day Plan” zine further complements this approach by offering insider tips and local insights, aligning with the same concept by valuing the absence of excessive information and encouraging tourists to engage with the city in a more individualized way.
